Through the early amount of the next World War, the Wehrmacht invasion into industrialized Russia threatened the method of getting critical war materials and manufacturing flowers. Russia's National Defense Committee made a decision to maneuver tank production and associated factories. The location became called "Tankograd" (Tank City) a nickname obtained with this website situated deeply into the Urals. The Russians, with an urgent requirement to reinforce their tank strength, made efforts to simplify tank manufacturing methods. This triggered numerous versions of T34 tank, that differed greatly from both. One of the more distinctive variations had been produced at the Chelyabinsk Tractor Works, "ChTZ" in Tankograd in 1943. This model used a one piece cast turret with pronounced rounding on edges for the turret roof and a strange dip across the reduced edge of the turret. This improved turret, had additional periscope and pistol ports, and supplied more space and comfort for the crew. A new five-speed transmission with modified clutch was added, replacing four-speed model. Coupled with motor improvements, these alterations stretched enough time between upkeep and repair. With several "ChTZ" variations produced, of the thousands of T34/76 tanks produced, it is regarded almost as a rarity.
