Italian Quality and Design

Desmosedici is a compound word made from the Italian for sixteen, "sedici" as well as the title of Ducati's trademark desmodromic valve design. The DOHC 16 V4 engine is composed of two 90 level L double components held together in a tubular metal truss-frame, with swing arm and rear shock pivots straight mounted on motor in a truly original fashion. The sleek and effective bike ended up being piloted in its first 2003 MotoGP season by L. Capirossi, previous 125 and 250cc course title holder, and World Superbike Champion T. Bayliss. The GP4 actually showed its stuff during its 2003 debut period, using 3rd spot at Suzuka and winning 1st at Catalunya. Keeping exactly the same basic structure in 2004, Ducati brushed up everything from the motor on body to create a level higher performance superbike. Although the Desmosedici GP4 had a hard first 1 / 2 of the season, it started initially to show results towards the end, with L. Capirossi winning 3rd place in round 15. T. Bayliss also took 3rd in the last round, ending Ducati's season on a high-note. Tamiya's beautifully finished display model is a geniune scale representation with this powerful bike, and includes such features as synthetic plastic tires, detachable cowlings, and die-cast steel wheels for an ultra-realistic display model.
