The Type 3 Chi-Nu was developed late in World War II as an enhancement over the Type 97 Chi-Ha. Introduced in May 1944, it was powered by a 240hp Type 100 V-12 diesel engine and fitted with a Type 3 75mm gun to better face Allied tanks such as the M4 Sherman. Production was limited to around 200 units, which were mainly held on Japanese soil and did not see combat with Allied forces.
Tamiya's 1/35 representation provides refined surface detail and comes with four crew figures for staging. The kit benefits from Fine Molds-sourced parts for small-scale accuracy and belt-type tracks that simplify the build process compared to individual link tracks.
