Development and combat use

The Marder III series adapted the 38(t) chassis to carry heavier anti-tank armament against Soviet armour. Introduced in May 1943, the Marder III M relocated the engine and mounted the 7.5cm Pak40/3, serving until replaced by more compact designs.
