The Tamiya 1/35 US Light Tank M5A1 model kit recreates a nimble World War II light tank used extensively for recon work. Built from the M3 Stuart design, the M5A1 appeared in 1943 and operated on Italian and North West European fronts where speed and mobility mattered. Its twin V8 engines enabled speeds up to about 58 km/h in service.
This release follows the earlier 35097 item and captures the M5A1's distinctive features, including the extra armour on the turret and the combination of welded and bolted hull panels. The kit also includes hedgerow cutters, a field adaptation seen during operations in Normandy.
Included are four figures: one figure operating an anti-aircraft gun and a three-man mortar crew. These parts let builders stage active scenes and add realism to shelf displays.
