Upgrade Your 1/16 Tiger I for Better Sound and Motion with Tamiya 53446

The Tamiya 53446 MF-01 Multifunction Pack adds coordinated audio and movement to a 1/16 scale Tiger I radio-controlled tank. Its features improve realism for display and radio-controlled running sessions.

Core Motion and Audio Functions

The unit offers several linked effects to simulate vehicle actions:

  • Main Gun Effects: Flash and blast sound with recoil action to recreate main gun firing.
  • Gun Barrel Movement: Raise the gun barrel up to 20 degrees with matched sound effects for true-to-life posture.
  • Turret Control: Adjust turret direction and rotation speed for controlled manoeuvring.
  • Machine Gun Simulation: Gunfire sound paired with flash for coordinated secondary weapon effects.

What the Kit Contains

The supplied parts cover the essentials for the upgrade:

  • DMD Multi-Function Unit tailored for the 1/16 Tiger I Tank
  • Speaker plus modules for recoil, flash, turret rotation and elevation control
  • Communication cable and LED cable
  • Gun barrel spring and required mounting hardware

Preparation and Tools Needed

Make sure you have these items ready before fitting the pack:

  • A Tamiya Tiger I R/C Tank with at least a four-channel radio
  • A 7.2V 6-cell flat battery
  • Basic tools for installation and alignment
Most connections use the provided cables and plugs, but you should be comfortable routing and securing wires. Minor soldering may be required depending on your radio wiring setup.
The recoil unit is designed to operate independently from the drive system; ensure correct mounting and balance to prevent any interference with running components.
The MF-01 comes with the main modules and cables, but installation requires fitting parts into the hull and connecting to your receiver and power source, so it is not entirely plug and play.
