SX4 WRC Origins and Rally Impact

The Suzuki SX4's WRC programme turned a compact five-door into a competitive rally machine with a broader body, upgraded suspension packages and a 300hp turbocharged engine. Its entry at the 2008 Monte Carlo Rally, campaigned by Toni Gardemeister and Per-Gunnar Andersson, proved it could score points in the championship.

Type-E Chassis Features and Strength

The Tamiya 58408 uses the updated TT-01 Type-E chassis which incorporates several durability and handling improvements. The updated A Parts and D Parts use fiberglass reinforced resin for stronger components and easier maintenance. Steering accuracy benefits from TA05 steering posts, and the strengthened upper deck increases rigidity while adding a transponder mount for timing on race days.

Precision Moulded Rally Shell

This kit supplies a lightweight polycarbonate SX4 WRC body with injection molded mirrors and a distinct rear wing. The metal-plated light cases are ready for LEDs to be installed for a realistic look. Included electronics are a Type 540 motor and TEU-101BK ESC so the core drive system is in place once you add receiver and battery.

With its accurate rally body and toughened TT-01 Type-E underpinnings the Tamiya 58408 is well suited to hobbyists who want a balance of scale realism and tunable performance for club racing or weekend fun.

The Type 540 motor is fine for entry use and light competition, but many modellers move to brushless setups for higher power and efficiency as they progress.
The strengthened TT-01 Type-E chassis holds up well on paved club tracks and can be tuned with oil shocks and harder or softer springs to suit handling preferences.
Use polycarbonate-specific spray paints and masking tape designed for RC bodies to get clean lines and durable finishes that resist stone chips and wear.
Yes, a range of option parts and spares exist for the TT-01 family including aluminium components, hop-up shocks and replacement body parts to keep the car running and evolving.
Soft compound rally tyres give better bite on loose or mixed surfaces, while medium compounds suit harder packed tarmac; choose by driving surface and weather conditions.
