The Mitsubishi A6M3/3a Zero was a standout fighter in early Pacific operations. The Model 32 debuted in summer 1942 to boost high altitude performance and speed, though it carried more weight and reduced fuel load which cut range. In 1943 the Model 22 was produced with longer wings and improved fuel efficiency to regain operational range.
Tamiya's 1/48 representation of the Mitsubishi A6M3/3a includes newly tooled main wings and the parts necessary to build either the A6M3 or A6M3a. Photo etched parts enhance the wingtip folding detail, and both seated and standing pilot figures are supplied to improve display possibilities.
The Zero's wartime role makes this kit a rewarding display model. It comes with three decal marking choices, including Major Shindo's aircraft, and can be upgraded further with Tamiya's Mitsubishi A6M Zero Fighter Detail Up Parts Set for finer detail.
