The Tamiya Wall-Hugging Ladybug provides a practical introduction to mechanical motion and basic robotics concepts in a compact package. As part of Tamiya's STEM range, it is a straightforward build that exposes key moving parts for easy study.
The ladybug uses a clear red cover over a white chassis, giving a clean look while revealing internal components for learning. The design requires no screws, so assembly is quicker and more focused on understanding how the mechanism operates. A decal sheet allows for custom styling once built.
Powered by a single R6/AA/UM3 battery (sold separately), the model alters its path when it contacts a wall so it moves along the surface. This simple reactive behaviour makes it useful for demonstrations and play, with an estimated running time of about six hours depending on battery choice.
