This 1/12 scale plastic assembly static display model reproduces the Yamaha YZR500 campaigned by Norifumi "Norick" Abe, designed to present accurate external detail for display and study.
Yamaha's YZR500 series were 500cc two-stroke race machines from the two-stroke era, combining lightweight chassis solutions with compact, high-revving 2-stroke multi-cylinder engines. The 1999 YZR500 fielded by Abe featured a 2-stroke four-cylinder engine and a Delta box style frame developed to balance chassis stiffness and rider feedback at speed.
The model concentrates on external engineering and race-specific fittings rather than internal operational systems. Engine assemblies are molded as separate pieces to illustrate the 2-stroke 4-cylinder arrangement. Small screws are supplied to construct the Delta box frame and the body and seat cowls are secured with removable screw fittings so panels can be removed after assembly. Front and rear slick tyres are rendered in solid rubber for a realistic finish. The box includes brake and ignition line detailing, a display stand, waterslide decals, and pictorial assembly instructions.
An accurate static kit for builders who favour visible engineering and period-correct race detailing for display.
