This 1/20 plastic assembly kit recreates the McLaren M23 from 1976 with emphasis on the chassis form and engine bay detail suitable for display after build.
The M23 debuted in 1973 replacing the M19 and proved competitive through 1976, before the M26 arrived in 1977. It played a role in McLaren's 1974 Constructors result and supported Drivers Championship wins in 1974 and 1976. Drivers associated with the M23 include James Hunt, Emerson Fittipaldi and Mike Hailwood, who achieved notable finishes such as a 1974 podium.
Modelled elements include the M23 body contours, a monocoque-style chassis and a scale Ford-Cosworth DFV V8. The kit design allows removal of the front and upper body panels post-assembly so the cockpit and engine bay can be displayed. Cartograf decals are supplied along with tyres, metal transfers and a skirt sheet to help reproduce period visuals. The kit adheres to classic plastic model assembly practices for builders seeking accurate external and engine-bay representation.
A considered reissue for modelers who prioritise authentic exterior shape and viewable engine detail for display or further finishing.
