The Italeri 1450 kit captures the Aeritalia G-222, a compact tactical transport designed by Giuseppe Gabrielli in the late 1960s. Built to serve the Italian Air Force, the G-222 is a smaller complement to the Lockheed C-130 Hercules, optimised for short takeoffs and operations from rough strips thanks to twin turboprop power allowing speeds up to 480 km/h.
The model also represents the updated C-27J Spartan variant, modernised from 2005 with Rolls-Royce AE2100-D2 engines that push the type past 600 km/h while keeping strong handling. The airframe is used for troop movements or cargo loads of around 68 personnel or more than 11 tonnes, and is equipped with advanced avionics for difficult missions.
Model builders will value the Italeri 1/72 kit for its accurate moulding and assembly potential. The kit's parts and fit make it straightforward to create a convincing transport model suitable for display or inclusion in mixed-scale collections.
