This 1/48 scale plastic assembly kit recreates the Messerschmitt Bf109 G-6 late model, released as a research-led entry in the Tamiya 1/48 aircraft series.
The Bf109 was the principal German single-engine fighter in World War II, produced in large numbers and deployed across many theatres. The G-6, seen from mid-1943, featured the Beule nose bulge, the Erla Haube reduced-frame canopy for greater visibility, and from August 1943 many examples were fitted with 21 cm rocket launchers under the wings. The G-6 remained in front-line service until the end of hostilities.
The kit reproduces late-model external features using current references. New engine cowlings model the Beule bulge and right-side air scoop and may be built open or closed and interchanged. A clear Erla Haube canopy is provided and can be mounted open or closed. New components also include the canopy center rearview mirror and cover, main landing gear bay doors with cloth covers removed, and wing-mounted 21 cm rocket launchers plus pylons. The instruction booklet includes color painting guidance and decals for four marking schemes, including the aircraft associated with Hermann Graf. Builders can choose early, late, or mixed configurations during assembly. Fuselage length and wingspan are noted in the specifications below.
A research-driven 1/48 kit capturing late-model Bf109 G-6 details with several build routes, well suited to modellers who enjoy configuration choices.
