This 1:700 static plastic kit recreates the French battleship Richelieu as refitted in 1946, furnished for model builders who prefer a waterline scene or a complete hull display.
Richelieu entered service after her January 1939 launch and had an eventful wartime record. She moved to Dakar in 1940, later rejoined Allied forces in 1942, and underwent a January 1943 refit at Brooklyn Navy Yard which upgraded radar and anti-aircraft weapons, swapping older 37mm and 13.2mm guns for 40mm Bofors and 20mm Oerlikons. In 1944 she took part in operations with the British Home Fleet off Norway and subsequently operated in the Pacific theatre before being returned to French control after World War II.
Construction guidance: aimed at experienced hobbyists, the kit's components are laid out across several sprues with distinct lower and upper hull pieces and deck parts. Builders can opt for waterline or full-hull construction and use the included decal sheet to apply postwar markings as seen when Richelieu returned to French ports in 1946. For best results, cross-check colours and small details against photographic sources from the period.
A nicely proportioned 1:700 Richelieu kit offering flexible display options, suited to modellers prioritising historical detail in a space-efficient model.
