Tuning-grade 500cst shock oil

Arrowmax am-210040 Silicone Shock Fluid is supplied in a 110ml bottle with a nominal 500cst viscosity intended for model car and buggy shock absorbers. The oil is provided as a clean silicone medium for shock servicing and tuning, not for use in full-size vehicles.

Its role is damping control: changing viscosities changes compression and rebound rates inside threaded or cartridge shocks on electric and nitro RC cars and buggies. A 500cst fluid commonly produces a moderate damping profile that helps stabilise rebound without making compression overly harsh in many typical setups.

Service and handling follow normal shock maintenance practices: drain old fluid, examine components and seals, then refill to the correct level for the shock assembly. Work on a clean surface, use the correct caps and rods, and seat pistons to avoid air. Dispose of used oil according to local guidance.

Tuning advice: adjust only one variable at a time—fluid viscosity, piston selection, or spring rate—so you can measure effects on roll, pitch and traction. Remember that temperature and runtime affect damping feel, so repeat tests in consistent conditions when fine tuning your setup.

Use 500cst as a baseline and test lighter and heavier oils in separate runs; note changes in rebound and midstroke feel while keeping springs and pistons constant to evaluate viscosity effects.
You may need to tweak piston size or spring rate to retain balance; 500cst increases damping so piston or spring changes are sometimes needed to recover desired compression and traction characteristics.
Run a series of consistent laps under similar track and temperature conditions, logging changes after each single-variable adjustment so you can quantify the oil's impact.
