Operational history of the UH-34A Choctaw

The Sikorsky H-34 Choctaw is notable in military aviation for its naval service and transport roles, initially used by the US Navy in anti-submarine warfare (ASW). It was developed from the Sikorsky UH-19 Chickasaw and powered by a single Wright R-1820-84 radial engine. The airframe could move 12 to 16 troops or serve as a medical evacuation platform housing eight stretchers.

Precision modelling and part quality

The Hobby Boss 1:72 kit recreates the American UH-34A Choctaws proportions and external detail. Cleanly moulded components and a logical build sequence make it appealing to hobbyists who favour accurate small-scale models.

Display value for collectors

Whether presented solo or within a period collection, this model provides solid display appeal. Detailing and paintwork emphasise its historical character and help it blend with other military subjects.

Specifications

  • Scale: 1:72
  • Material: PS plastic
  • Assembly: Requires glue
  • Paint: Not included
Sharp sprue cutters, fine files, tweezers and a good plastic cement are recommended to handle small parts and ensure neat joins.
This is a static display kit built from PS plastic; converting to radio control would require major alteration and is not intended by the manufacturer.
Keep the model away from direct sunlight and dust; a display case or sealed cabinet will protect paintwork and delicate components.
