This is a 1/700 scale waterline plastic kit depicting the Imperial Japanese Navy battleship Nagato, intended for static display at sea level as part of the manufacturer's waterline series.
The Nagato was the class flagship, finished in the early 1920s and notable for her 16-inch (410 mm) main guns. She served through the interwar period and during World War II, received modernisation work in the 1930s, and remained in service until the war's end before being used as a postwar nuclear test target.
Being a waterline subject, the kit is made to be displayed on a simulated sea or with other fleet pieces. Builders should focus on deck painting, correct alignment of superstructure parts, and rigging to capture scale realism. Aftermarket photo-etched details and fine paintwork are popular enhancements. The waterline approach removes the lower hull so it pairs well with other 1/700 waterline kits for aggregated displays.
This kit offers a compact sea-level representation of an important battleship and is well suited to static showcases, fleet dioramas, and step-by-step detailing by experienced modellers and collectors.
