This 1/700 scale full-hull plastic kit recreates the external profile of the Imperial Japanese Navy battleship Mutsu circa 1942, designed for modellers who prefer display and external detailing.
The Mutsu was part of the Nagato-class, completed in the early 1920s with heavy main armament and armour. The class saw interwar upgrades to fire control and protection systems. Mutsu performed training and fleet duties until an internal explosion caused her loss in 1943.
The model concentrates on hull silhouette and surface detail consistent with full-hull presentation. Included are individually moulded superstructure and deck elements plus factory metal gun barrels to enhance the main battery. Builders should expect to clean parts, dry-fit subassemblies, paint with reference colours, and take care when seating metal barrels to maintain alignment.
As a full-hull subject the kit is ideal for base mounting or simple diorama work. External fittings like deck planking, boats, and masts are supplied for finishing touches; the interior is not detailed. Rigging and weathering remain common modelling steps to achieve the final look.
A straightforward full-hull model of Mutsu that enhances gun realism with metal barrels, suited to builders aiming for a clean, display-ready result.
