The GPM SCX1660TS kit upgrades an AXIAL SCX10 III Jeep JT Gladiator with a belt driven gearbox built from 6061-T6 aluminium and rubber elements. The result is improved resistance to shocks and a reduction in drivetrain noise, helping to protect gears over time.
Using the GPM SCX1660TS belt drive will cut down gearbox noise and reduce shaft-induced vibration relative to metal gear trains. Remember that belt drives can have lower torque transfer than direct gear sets. Measure your motor shaft to confirm compatibility; the correct shaft diameter is 3.175mm.
Begin by locating the original metal plate in the gearbox housing. Fit the appropriate friction disc into the pulley groove and press the bearing into position. Replace the original plate, fit the anti-skid spring and tighten the nut. Position the two gears close to each other to loop the belt, then fine tune the spacing to achieve steady belt tension.
