Durable aluminium cover for AXIAL SCX24 main gear

This aluminium main gear cover is an aftermarket three-piece set intended for AXIAL SCX24 Deadbolt type chassis, supplied as SCX24038GC. It swaps in for the stock plastic cover to boost impact resistance and provide a conductive path to help transfer heat away from the motor and spur area.

Construction and fit: manufactured from 6061-T6 aluminium to keep weight low while improving strength, the cover fastens to the gearbox with stainless steel cap head screws. The original item list contains one gear cover and two stainless steel cap head screws 1.4x5 for the mounting points shown on Deadbolt housings.

Installation notes: remove the factory cover, check the gears and bearings for wear, then fit the aluminium cover with the supplied screws using the correct hex driver. Take care not to overtighten and verify clearance to the spur and pinion before operating.

Tuning and purpose: this aftermarket part adds local stiffness around the main gear area and can aid passive cooling of the spur and motor during extended crawling, improving consistency without modifying drivetrain alignment.

How do I fit the cover?

Remove the existing cover, inspect gear mesh and bearings, then bolt the aluminium cover into place with the included 1.4x5 stainless cap head screws. Use the correct driver and avoid excessive torque.

Is this compatible with modified gearboxes?

The cover is intended for standard SCX24 Deadbolt mount patterns; for modified gearboxes, check that mounting points and clearances match before fitting.

Will it help reduce motor temperature?

By offering a metal surface near the spur/motor area, the cover can assist passive heat dispersion, which may help under long or heavy crawling loads but is not a replacement for active cooling if required.
