BMAX4 III X Shock Piston Overview

Designed as an OEM-style replacement, these shock pistons fit the BMAX4 III X shock units for 1/10 scale RC vehicles. The pack contains 2 black pistons marked 1.6 and fitted with a two-hole configuration as described in the title. They are intended for suspension tuning and part replacement.

The internal orifice arrangement of the piston determines how oil flows through the cartridge, so swapping pistons is a straightforward way to tune compression and rebound. Follow your normal procedure for disassembling the BMAX4 III X shocks, seat the pistons properly, inspect seals, and refill with the correct shock oil to reach the desired damping effect.

Once installed, check that the shock shafts move smoothly, inspect for leaks, and confirm that the piston orientation provides the expected flow characteristics. Keep the old pistons as spares; the two-piece pack gives basic replacement coverage.

Remark :
Due to limited stock availability, please notice that some Yokomo items may have to order from the factory and the ready time is around 4-6 weeks. Customer purchases the item is assumed to accept the waiting time which allows us to order directly from the manufacturer if the item is out of our warehouse.
Orifice size controls the volume of oil passing through the piston per stroke. Smaller orifices slow flow and increase damping, while larger orifices allow faster flow and a softer shock response.
Not necessarily, but you should confirm oil level and viscosity after swapping pistons to ensure the damping matches your tuning objective. Fresh or different viscosity oil may be needed for optimal results.
Standard shock service tools are sufficient: a shock shaft clamp, appropriate drivers for retaining screws, and a clean workspace for oil handling. No specialized tooling is required.
