Marketed as Yokomo YOKYS350 with the #350 viscosity marking, this silicone shock oil is tailored for use inside R/C shock absorbers on cars and buggies. It sets the damping tone in threaded shock bodies and cartridges, affecting compression and rebound cycles while remaining an aftermarket tuning fluid rather than a vehicle product.
The oil is the medium that damps piston movement; changing viscosity alters shock speed and feel. When adjusting, try one viscosity step at a time and evaluate on short runs, concentrating on mid-corner balance, traction transition, and behaviour over successive bumps.
Fit the fluid by disassembling threaded shock cartridges, draining the prior oil, checking pistons and seals, and refilling to the recommended level. Work cleanly and expel air by slowly operating the piston while topping up the oil.
Tuning tip: use 350 for a balanced, slightly firm response and combine oil choice with spring selection and preload adjustments to refine handling. Make small, repeatable changes and confirm results before further alterations.
