This 1/700 scale kit reproduces the Imperial Japanese Navy aircraft carrier Hiyo in her 1942 configuration and is released within Fujimi's line of full-hull ship models.
Hiyo served with IJN carrier groups during the Pacific conflict and experienced wartime alterations similar to other carriers of the era. The kit captures the ship's wartime layout and external changes as referenced for 1942.
Designed as a complete hull model, the kit is ideal for display on stands or as the centrepiece of a diorama. Standard modelling tasks such as seam filling, painting and rigging are expected to achieve a finished look. Builders who want detailed aircraft or deck fittings should consult aftermarket sources or historical references.
Parts are produced in conventional injection-moulded plastic consistent with 1/700 ship kits. The full-hull format supports various presentation methods including base-mounted seascapes or simple shelf presentation.
A full-hull interpretation of Hiyo from 1942 aimed at modellers and collectors who prioritise a complete-ship display; requires ordinary assembly and finishing work.
