This is a 1/700 scale full-hull plastic model kit depicting the Imperial Japanese Navy aircraft carrier Taihou, released within Fujimi's full-hull series for builders aiming at display-grade exterior accuracy and authentic deck texture.
Taihou was completed in 1944 as one of Japan's later, larger fleet carriers and incorporated measures for improved protection. Her operational career was short; she was lost in 1944 after torpedo hits caused fatal internal explosions.
The kit highlights external fidelity and surface presentation. The full-hull construction preserves hull lines below the waterline for solid presentation on display bases or dioramas. A latex flight deck provides a textured, covered-deck appearance, and the supplied photo-etched parts add delicate fittings and deck detail that injection moulding alone cannot easily replicate. Finishing this kit will require careful handling of small components and common modelling techniques for painting and rigging.
Designed for collectors and display builders, the kit emphasises hull definition and deck texture through its latex surface and etched metal detailing.
