Responsive Steering with the Futaba S9650

The Futaba S9650 Digital Mini Servo brings higher torque and faster response to 1/12 and 1/18 on-road models. Its digital circuitry and coreless motor improve steering accuracy for competitive and club driving.

Why the Coreless Motor Helps

Removing the conventional steel core reduces inertia and lets the motor accelerate faster. The S9650's coreless design translates control inputs into quicker shaft movement for sharper handling at speed.

Durable Nylon Gear Design

Nylon gears offer quieter operation and a good service life under normal racing conditions. The gear train is optimised to provide consistent centring and repeatable throws lap after lap.

Wheel-to-Wheel Fit and Hardware

Made for 1/12 and 1/18 on-road platforms such as the HPI Micro RS4, the unit includes four rubber mounting grommets, brass eyelets and a 21mm round horn for common servo setups.

Specifications

  • Length: 43mm between centers of side mounting holes
  • Servo Body Length: 35.5mm
  • Width: 15mm
  • Height: 28.6mm
  • Weight: 26 grams
  • Speed: .14 sec/60° @ 4.8V, .11 sec/60° @ 6.0V
  • Torque: 3.6kg-cm @ 4.8V, 4.5kg-cm @ 6.0V

For hobbyists wanting dependable mini-servo performance, the Futaba S9650 offers a useful mix of speed and torque; use 6.0V for peak results.

No special transmitter is required; the S9650 works with standard radio systems. Verify your radio's servo output and neutral signal compatibility for best results.
Running the servo at 6.0V will increase both speed and torque. If your electronics limit you to 4.8V, expect slightly slower response and lower torque figures.
The supplied 21mm round horn fits most common linkages, but some aftermarket setups may need a different horn or adaptor; check spline size and hole patterns before fitting.
