This aluminium centre skid is presented as a replacement/upgrade for the Gmade R1 platform to defend the central chassis underside against impacts and abrasion encountered off-road. Its primary purpose is protection rather than altering vehicle dynamics significantly.
Mounting is carried out at the chassis centre using existing mounting points; ensure correct alignment and secure thread engagement during installation so the plate sits level with the chassis rails. The alloy construction provides a tougher wearing surface than many original plastic plates, and the red finish acts as a handy indicator for underside contact and wear during routine checks.
Tuning comment: while not a tuning part, the skid can slightly change where the chassis contacts obstacles. Check clearance and overall skid behaviour after fitment if you change ride height or suspension geometry for particular terrain types.
