The kit is a 1/350 scale injection-moulded plastic representation of the Imperial Japanese Navy battleship Mikasa, released as part of the Battle of Yellow Sea edition in the 1/350 & 1/450 Water Line Series.

Mikasa was a pre-dreadnought constructed in the United Kingdom for the Imperial Japanese Navy around the start of the 20th century. She acted as Admiral Togo's flagship during the Russo-Japanese War and took part in major naval battles of the period, including the Battle of the Yellow Sea and the Battle of Tsushima, reflecting typical pre-dreadnought armament and armor layout.

The subject is modelled for external accuracy in a waterline format.
