The Messerschmitt Me262 "Swallow" have been the world's 1st functional jet-powered fighter aircraft. Formally called "Swallow", the Allies called it the �Storm bird�. The Me262 had a negligible influence the period of WWII, but its design ended up being extremely influential on postwar aircraft development.
