The Messerschmitt Me 262 stands out as the first operational jet fighter, a key step in military aviation after development began in April 1939. Its first flight on 18 July 1942 showcased twin Jumo 004B engines and performance around 870 km/h at 6,000 m, with a service ceiling near 11,400 m and a range close to 1,050 km.
The A-1a/U5 was an experimental mount for six MK108 cannons, but only one prototype was completed with that armament. This Hobby Boss kit lets builders examine the airframe and the unique features of that variant in scaled form.
Produced at 1/48 scale, the finished Hobby Boss Me 262 measures 221 mm long and 260.6 mm across. Parts come moulded in high-grade plastic and the kit requires glue for assembly; careful preparation, sanding and paintwork will reward those aiming for an accurate display piece.
