The F4U-5 Corsair is recognised as the last major piston fighter built for the US Navy, an evolution of the F4U-4 that first flew on December 21, 1945. Its extended nose section accommodated a robust 2300hp R-2800-32W engine paired with an automatically-adjusting turbo supercharger.
This Hobby Boss 1/48 scale kit contains over 200 parts, providing a comprehensive build that reproduces structural features faithfully. Notable kit updates include a reworked cockpit area and a redesigned canopy for enhanced realism.
The finished model spans 215mm in length with a 260mm wingspan, and includes a detailed fuselage, wing surfaces and a realistic engine bay and landing gear area. Clear canopy components help reveal cockpit detail for close-up viewing.
