The M3A1 White Scout Car was introduced in 1938 for armoured and reconnaissance roles but excelled mainly on roads rather than rough country. Because of those limits it saw limited use as a frontline scout in the Second World War. Trial variants included the M3A1E1 with a diesel engine, the M3A1E2 fitted with an armoured roof, and the M3A1E3 armed with a 37mm gun on a rotating pedestal.
Production of the M3 family reached about 21,000 units, many of which were supplied to the Soviet Union and Free French forces through Lend-Lease. After hostilities some nations, including Israel, continued to employ them for years. The M3A1 held a crew of eight and carried a front .50 cal M2 and two rear .30 cal 1917 Brownings on a continuous skate rail to allow flexible firing arcs.
This Hobby Boss kit recreates the M3A1's external form and mounting points with good fidelity. Assembly expects modellers to be patient with small parts and alignment for the best result. With careful painting and finishing the completed model becomes a strong representation of the vehicle for any WWII military display.
