The Hobby Boss 1/35 German Land-Wasser-Schlepper II-Prototype model reproduces an experimental WWII amphibious tractor with fine moulded parts. It reflects an effort to combine tracked mobility with a load-carrying pontoon system.
The original Land-Wasser-Schlepper started as an unarmoured tractor, but limitations in the trailer design and lack of protection led to a revised prototype. The redesign used PzKpfw IV track components and suspension to support a light armoured superstructure. Called the Panzerfaehre, it was intended to move tanks or cargo on pontoons, yet the project was halted in 1942 after two prototypes were completed.
Model builders who favour unusual or transitional military machines will appreciate this Hobby Boss release. The kit offers detailed elements such as the cape stand winch and fold-down air intakes, making for a rewarding build and a standout display subject.
