The USS Ticonderoga CG-47 marked a shift in naval combat systems and air defence. Reclassified as a guided missile cruiser in 1980, it was the first surface ship to be equipped with the AEGIS Weapons System, setting a new standard for coordinated air defence.
The class is well known for vertical launch cells used for TOMAHAWK and other missiles, alongside AEGIS sensors and anti-submarine assets. The Hobby Boss 82501 model reproduces those silhouettes and deck arrangements in miniature form.
With accurate proportions and focused detail, this kit is suited for display in a cabinet or as part of a larger fleet grouping. The build presents a pleasant challenge for modellers who prefer scale authenticity.
