The Renault R35 functioned as a French light infantry tank in WWII, prioritising armor protection to support ground troops. Its performance traded speed and long-range firepower for survivability, and an upgraded R40 version later mounted a stronger gun. By June 1940 the R35 was France's top-produced tank, and captured vehicles saw service with various other nations.
This 1/35 kit from Hobby Boss offers a thorough build experience. With over 430 parts, slide-moulded turret components and a single photo-etched part, the set reproduces many small fittings. Engine details are included to support authenticity for open-hatch displays.
Finished builds benefit from careful weathering to convey battlefield wear. Displayers can place this Renault R35 alongside other WWII armour or in an infantry-led vignette to emphasise its support role.
