Hobby Boss 1/35 Sd.Kfz.221 Model Brief

The Sd.Kfz.221 Leichter Panzerspahwagen functioned as a light reconnaissance armoured car in World War II, used across multiple theatres for scouting and liaison. Performance changed with terrain and supply conditions, from smooth roads to sandy and muddy environments.

Assembly and kit highlights

This 1/35 kit from Hobby Boss gives scale modellers the parts needed to recreate the vehicle. The kit contains more than 310 plastic components on 14 sprues and includes well-matched upper and lower hull pieces. Photo-etched parts are provided to sharpen surface detail and fittings.

Realism and Craftsmanship

Precision slide moulding and rubber tyres contribute to an authentic look once painted and weathered. Interior components are modelled to a level that rewards careful painting and careful assembly.

Not ideal for complete beginners. The model has many small parts and photo-etched pieces that are easier to handle with some modelling experience.
The kit uses multi-directional slide moulding for the hulls and rubber for the tyres, producing realistic profiles and surface finish for scale displays.
Pre-shade panel lines, use thin washes for recessed detail and apply light dry-brushing to raised surfaces. Seal decals before weathering for best results.
