The KrAZ-255B earned its reputation after being introduced in 1965 as an enhanced follow up to the KrAZ-214. Improvements included a beefier V-8 diesel engine rated at roughly 240 horsepower, hydraulic assist steering and an on board tyre inflation system that allowed pressure changes from inside the vehicle.
Hobby Boss reproduces these traits in a detailed 1/35 model made up of more than 510 parts across 12 sprues. The kit features a complete drive train assembly with engine, transmission and suspension parts, offering an involved build for modellers who enjoy mechanical accuracy.
As a display model it performs well. The hollow rubber tyres show lifelike tread and the wheel hubs are carefully modelled. Clear parts are supplied for glazing and a single photo etched component adds a layer of delicate detailing to the completed model.
