This alloy shock body is offered as an aftermarket upgrade for the HPI Savage 21 and is identified by part number SAV13170/SB. It replaces worn plastic or aluminium shock cylinders and is intended only for internal suspension use.
Manufactured from machined aluminium, the body gives a stiffer cylinder wall and better heat dispersion compared with common plastic options. As an aftermarket housing it restores worn shocks and provides a reliable base for tuning oil and internals to modify damping characteristics.
Fitting is standard shock maintenance: remove the shock from the suspension, disassemble the shock cap and shaft, move or replace internal parts as required, fit the new alloy body, then reassemble and top up with your preferred shock oil. Inspect and replace worn O-rings and seals to prevent leakage. Once rebuilt, check stroke and run a low-speed leak test before full throttle running.
When tuning, expect alloy bodies to change thermal behaviour and cavity stiffness relative to plastic bodies; this can lead to different damping feel under extended running. Always confirm mechanical compatibility with Savage 21 mountings before track use.
