Italeri 15765 - 1/56 Sd. Kfz. 182 Tiger II Scale Model for Hobbyists

This Italeri 15765 kit represents the Sd. Kfz. 182 Panzer VI Ausf. B, better known as the Tiger II or King Tiger. Entering service around mid-1944, it featured a redesigned chassis, heavier sloped front armour, and the long 8.8 cm KwK 43 L/71 gun which improved anti-armour performance.

Construction and Historical Notes

The heavy tank was powered by a Maybach V-12 engine that enabled road speeds up to about 42 km/h despite a weight close to 70 tonnes. Two main turret styles were used during production, the early Porsche type and the more common Henschel turret, both fitted to carry substantial ammunition loads.

Suitability for Games and Display

In 1/56 scale the model balances manageable size with recognisable detail, making it ideal for wargames tables and museum-style displays. The kit is straightforward to build and ships with one figure to help stage historical vignettes such as Normandy, July 1944.

Specifications

  • Scale: 1/56
  • Material: Plastic
  • Includes: 1 figure
  • Assembly: Easy
Yes, a hobby knife, fine cutters and plastic cement are typically all you need to assemble the parts cleanly and accurately.
The single figure is moulded to match the 1/56 scale kit and aids scale comparison when displayed alongside the vehicle.
The kit focuses on recognisable external features and silhouette; modellers seeking extreme accuracy can add aftermarket details but the supplied parts capture the King Tiger profile well.
