F-14 A TOMCAT

The U.S. Navys very first super-fighter, the F-14, originated partially based on expertise gained utilising the F-111, a multi-role airplane designed by General Dynamics, the Navy version of which, the F111B, finished up being built by Grumman. The F-14A first travelled on twenty-first December 1970, and production-line models started reaching squadrons in 1973. Squadrons VF-1 and VF-2 accompanied the final voyage associated with the aircraft carrier Enterprise in Vietnam, yet never saw combat. The Tomcat would perhaps not see action until 1981, when it shot down two Libyan Su-22s during an encounter through the entire Gulf of Sirte. Since that time the F-14 is updated repeatedly and it has brought parts in several conflicts in the centre East (Iran-Iraq war, first and 2nd Gulf War), and in operations on the former Yugoslavia and little skirmishes inside the Mediterranean.
