The Bell AB 212/UH-1N traces back to Bell Helicopter projects of the late 1960s and was later manufactured under licence by Agusta Westland as the AB-212. That licensed build incorporated a stretched fuselage and dual Pratt & Whitney PT6T powerplants, increasing capability for transport and support roles.
In the early 2000s many AB 212 helicopters received mission-specific upgrades such as swivelling gun mounts, advanced countermeasure systems with flare launchers, and extra armour for crew stations. These improvements were applied during international missions, including deployments in Afghanistan after 2006.
The Italeri kit models these features faithfully in 1/48 scale, offering accurate panel lines and cockpit detail for modellers who like to paint and weather their builds for realistic displays.
