Scale Model of the Douglas P-70 Night Fighter

The Italeri 2724S kit recreates the Douglas P-70, converted from the A-20 Havoc for night combat during World War II. It highlights systems used for nocturnal interception and concentrates on the aircrafts radar housing and heavy forward firepower for a faithful scale build.

The operational P-70 used twin Wright R-2600 Cyclone engines and could reach speeds in excess of 500 km/h, evidence of its performance. The kit captures the glazed nose, external radar details and the four 20 mm cannons mounted under the fuselage.

This kit is aimed at intermediate to experienced builders because of small parts and alignment required for the nose glazing and gun bays. Novices may still complete it with patience.
Yes, the kit supplies clear components for the nose glazing and other transparent sections to allow realistic cockpit and radar detail when built.
Apply subtle washes and dry-brushing to panel lines and around the gun bays, and use light chipping on high-wear areas to simulate operational service without overdoing it.
