The Italeri 1/48 Fiat CR.42 recreates a characteristic biplane fighter of the 1930s and early 1940s. Built on the C.R.32 lineage, the CR.42 "Falco" featured a mixed alloy, steel and fabric airframe, fixed landing gear and an open cockpit layout. The type was powered by a supercharged Fiat A.74 radial engine and could reach roughly 400 km/h in service.
As part of the Corpo Aereo Italiano during the Battle of Britain, the Fiat CR.42 traded top speed for agility, performing well in close dogfights against faster opponents. This kit reflects those characteristics and provides a classic subject for a 1/48 WW2 aircraft display.
This kit is aimed at model builders who enjoy precise assembly and detailing. Expect some fiddly parts and the need for fine finishing to achieve a museum-quality display piece once completed.
