The BAE Hawk T. Mk.I, originally developed by Hawker Siddeley and later produced under BAE Systems, was introduced as an advanced trainer for the Royal Air Force in the late 1970s. Created to replace the Folland Gnat, the Hawk uses a Rolls-Royce Adour turbofan and can reach speeds up to about Mach 0.84.
The T1A configuration added a centreline Aden 30 mm gun pod and the option to carry AIM-9L Sidewinder missiles, giving the aircraft light attack capability in addition to training duties. Its versatility and economical operating profile led to worldwide adoption, and it remains notable in display team lineups.
This Italeri 2813 kit renders the Hawk T. Mk.I lines cleanly at 1/48 scale and supplies decals for a range of liveries. Builders who focus on paint accuracy and decal placement will produce a strong representation of the trainer that works well on a shelf or in a themed model grouping.
