Line infantry advanced level in close purchase, usually preceded by light infantry devices like Chasseur, Tirailleurs or Voltigers. These light products harassed the enemy to disrupt their lines, or even to interrupt their style of demand focusing on officers, drummers, and standard bearers. Perhaps the Imperial Guard had light infantry devices in its ranks.
