The PDS-2514 is not specified as waterproof. Avoid prolonged exposure to water and mud; if you run in wet conditions, use additional protection such as a waterproof case or silicone conformal coating where appropriate.
Metal gears resist stripping and wear better than plastic, which is helpful when the servo faces shock loads and heavy steering forces common in off-road driving.
While it is designed primarily for steering, the torque and size can suit throttle or braking linkages on some 1/10 electric setups. Check travel and mounting constraints before adapting it to non-steering roles.
