Fit and Function of SRX8 Steering Pins

This Serpent 601401 steeringblock pin set is an RC-scale replacement and tuning accessory designed for the SRX8 platform, following the KPI V2 steering geometry. The set is supplied as a (2+2) pcs configuration to match left and right mounting points, intended for routine maintenance or when swapping steering components during a setup change.

The pins form the pivot and retention points for the steeringblocks, ensuring the SRX8 front-end keeps its intended KPI V2 alignment after maintenance or light impacts. They are neutral components meant to preserve factory steering geometry rather than change handling characteristics dramatically.

Installation is straightforward for technicians familiar with SRX8 front-end assemblies: remove the steeringblocks, replace the old pins with the new set, check for secure fitment and absence of play, then verify steering travel and toe during reassembly. Regular checks of these pins should be part of front-end service intervals.

Remove the steeringblock assembly, take out the old pins, insert the new (2+2) pins, and secure the blocks. Finish by confirming there is no unwanted play and that steering returns correctly.
Standard hand tools used for SRX8 front-end work are sufficient. No specialist equipment is required for fitting these pins unless your chassis has nonstandard retainers.
Replace the pins if you notice visible wear, bending, or increased lateral movement at the steering pivot, or as part of scheduled front-end servicing to keep handling consistent.
