Mini-Z control refined in the Kyosho MR-04EVO2

The Kyosho MR-04EVO2 refines the Mini-Z platform with practical upgrades aimed at sharper feedback and easier tuning. It retains MR-03 ergonomics while adding suspension and layout changes that matter on demanding layouts.

Front geometry for steadier steering response

The updated kingpin-integrated knuckle reduces abrupt camber change under load, so the chassis feels more predictable entering corners. Being able to change the wheelbase makes it easier to match different bodies and handling preferences.

Sensored brushless power for cleaner throttle feel

Featuring the KYOSHO SPEED HOUSE XSPEED 41 sensored motor at 4100KV, the MR-04EVO2 delivers smooth power transitions and reliable low speed control. When paired with compatible transmitters, EVO2 mode lowers transmission latency to about 0.9ms.

Weight distribution that aids traction

Placing AAA batteries low in the chassis reduces roll and improves mid-corner stability. A standard ball differential helps balance torque to the rear wheels, improving traction during corner exits and tighter sections.

As a compact, tunable platform the Kyosho MR-04EVO2 suits racers who prioritise consistent handling and easy setup changes across different track types.

Use medium compound tyres to balance grip and steering. Slight toe out up front and minimal rear toe usually produce stable turn-in on asphalt, but test small changes to find your preferred balance.
The chassis is designed around AAA cells for a low profile. High quality alkaline or NiMH AAs are common choices; ensure batteries fit the holder and keep wiring tidy to avoid clearance issues.
You can alter diff behaviour by changing shims or using different diff oils where applicable. A slightly tighter diff can help on slippery tracks, while looser setups favour tight technical courses.
Ensure your transmitter and receiver support EVO2 communications, enable the lowest latency mode if available, and fine tune expo and throttle curves to match the sensored motor response for smoother control.
Regularly check suspension pins, clean the differential from debris, and verify motor and wiring connections. Small checks between runs prevent unexpected handling changes on race day.
