Do I need to change grease or oil when fitting?

Clean the area around the spur, inspect bearings and use a light gear grease if required. Avoid heavy oils that attract dust and grit.

Can tooth damage be repaired or must I replace it?

Chipped or bent teeth cannot be reliably repaired; replace the spur to prevent further damage to the pinion or gearbox.

Will this change gear ratios?

The TF228-116 keeps the same tooth count as specified, so gear ratio only changes if you swap the pinion tooth count. Use the same tooth count to retain original gearing.
