Set the pinion on the motor shaft, bring the spur into mesh, then use a thin shim or paper to set a small clearance. Spin the drivetrain to confirm smooth engagement without binding.
Gear size influences final ratio. The 78T spur gives a base for higher top speed with larger pinions or stronger acceleration with smaller ones. Choose pinion sizes to tune the balance you need.
Standard RC tools are sufficient: hex drivers for motor mount and pinion set screw, plus a wrench for the spur gear hub if applicable. Ensure screws are torqued to manufacturer recommendations.
