MR-04EVO2 chassis (Kyosho 32895): compact redesign for better balance
Design goals and intent
The MR-04EVO2 keeps the Mini-Z family layout while introducing specific mechanical updates to enhance driving manners. Updates include a sensored brushless MM2 motor layout, a lower-mounted battery to reduce center of gravity, and revised front suspension geometry for improved steering predictability without changing the compact form factor.
Front suspension specifics and on-track feel
The front now uses a knuckle that integrates the kingpin and a revised upper arm to preserve camber during cornering. Caster and trail have been revised to smooth steering inputs, and the standard higher-rigidity front arm helps resist flex under load. Key pivots use 3 mm inner-diameter ball bearings to cut rotational resistance, while anodized aluminium parts add stiffness where needed.
Powertrain and electronic fitment
The kit includes a KYOSHO SPEED HOUSE XSPEED 41 motor (KV4100) mounted on an MM2 motor mount; a ball differential is supplied to moderate rear slip in tight turns. The control unit is compatible with current receiver protocols and offers RPM control via the I.C.S. Setting Manager. A gyro is not provided, leaving the choice of stabilizer to the owner.
Tuning, layout and options
Front tread adjustments are possible using alternative lower and upper plates, and the steering tie rod supports narrow or wide settings. Wheelbase positions can be changed to suit different body shells. Optional front springs are available for those desiring different spring rates, prioritising a predictable handling platform and body compatibility.
